Gender representat in Inception

Emotional responses
Arousal, in Inception all the main characters are good looking people and the film does this to attract people to watch this film and to make certain people watch this film because of the actors used in the film. The character Kobb is a flawed hero who is the main character in this film but also tackles masculinity because the men are not typically big males who fight and use women and the main women characters are also powerful in this film.

Sympathy, in Inception the spectators have sympathy for Kobb because we see him lose his wife so we have a sense of emotion towards him and what him to get back to his family because of what he has been through.

Empathy, in Inception the spectator feel empathy because some people can relate to the characters because of dream that they have had themselves so the characters can help to show people how to deal with these things. Also the fact that some people can relate to the characters helps the film to be better and looked at in a better way because people can relate to it.

Totems- The totems in this film help the characters to have their own thing that they are know by and something that they use to tell them if they are in a dream or not.
Water- Water has connotations of refreshing and cleaning which is used in this film to show that the drams are also refreshing and cleaning.

Wider Representation
In Inception the reason that they go into Fischer's dream is so that his energy company doesn't gain more power and can become more dangerous which links into capitalism because if a company becomes to power it tackles capitalism and it can effect the characters in the film so they have to stop the company from growing and becoming to popular.

The representation of the male trauma post 9-11 shows that males have been effected by this event Christopher Nolan was on record

The film Trainspotting portrays social and cultural contexts very well in a post Thatcherism era, in the way that the film deals with the effects of Thatcherism and the lack of work for young people in the working class. Thatcherism legacy lived on through the 90s and still developed a lot of unemployment among the UK and this is shown in Trainspotting from the lack of work shown in this film and the fact that none of the main characters have jobs shows that there are still Thatcherism policy is still going on.
