While Trainspotting was being filmed Thatcherism and the aftermath of Thatcher being prime minister had a massive effect of how people live their lives and it had a higher demand on what people wanted. Thatcher thought that the government shouldn't own all the businesses and that their should be private owners that should run the businesses which help make more determined people succeed in life and the less determined people will not succeed which at the time had a positive and negative effect on certain people, Thatchers policy is still spoken about today which shows that her policy is really important for the way that England is run today. In Trainspotting Thatchers policy has a negative effect on the characters in this film because her policy doesn't allow them to get certain and stable jobs because of what life they are living and the society and the people they have grown up in and with this shows that Thatcherism can also have a negative effect on people.
