Vertigo Opening Scene Analysis

In the opening scene of this film is quiet strange because it leaves a lot of unanswered questions like How he survived? and How he got down from the building?. This is used to make the scene more affective and to make the audience think more about the scene. Also the purpose of this opening scene is to set the way the film is going to go and to show that Scottie has Vertigo and how the film links back to this and linking to him having Vertigo. Another purpose is to how he gets his fear of heights? and the way in which it happens and where he is? which is in San Francisco. We learn a lot about the main character in this opening scene about him being a flawless character and has a lot of personal problems and about him becoming what he is in the future as a person but also as a cop.
