Analysing Vertigo
This film is about a retired police detective who suffers from acrophobia and is asked by a friend if he can come out of retirement to help a friend to follow his wife because he thinks that she is acting different and trying to be someone else. Scottie try's to find out what is wrong with the women and learns that she is controlled by Carlotta Valdez but then ends up falling in love with Galvin's wife which puts a twist in the story. The wife ends up killing herself by jumping from a church so Scottie could not stop her because he is scared of heights, After her death Scottie starts to go a bit mad and starts to think that other women are Madeleine, he meets a women called Judy who reminds him of Madeleine he makes her dress like Madeleine but then ends up finding out that she was the women he fell in love with and that Gavin planned this all along and murdered his wife and that this Judy women was playing he's wife all along. The film started off a little slow and took a while to really get into it but then as the film went on it started to get more interesting and started to make you think about things and makes you think certain things about the play which helps you connect more with the characters and the film. The acting in this film is not suited to the film because a older man is trying to play a young man and is doesn't work the the age difference between Scottie and Madeleine is 25 years. The editing in this film is really good they use a lot of fades witch tells you that something happens later on they also use cuts, fade out and in's which tells you that it is either an end of a chapter or the beginning of one. The camera work is also good in this film they use a lot of different camera shots like close up, distance shot and tracking shot which makes it more affective and makes it stand out around that time as a good film because of how much effort has been put into it.
