An analysis of the opening and closing sequences of Trainspotting

In the opening scene of Trainspotting the audience get an idea of Renton and what he is about and then when it comes to the house that he is in which is dark compared to the outside world and him mentioning drugs the idea of him being a drug addict becomes a reality. Also in the opening sequence when Renton and Spud are running from the cops the voice over of Renton is really affective in the way that he is talking about all the things in life that you want but he sounds ironic in the way that he says why would he want life when he has heroine implying that heroine is everything in his life and everything that he wants in life. In the closing scene of Trainspotting the music is a really affect in the way of what is happening the music is really upbeat which then reflex that Renton now having a life and having a point of life it also seems like he has found a new drug which is hi  living his life and the really big pulse in the music represents Renton being excited in the way that he is now ahs a point to live and he has now chosen life.

Trainspotting social and cultural contexts

The film Trainspotting portrays social and cultural contexts very well in a post Thatcherism era, in the way that the film deals with the effects of Thatcherism and the lack of work for young people in the working class.
