One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Opening Sequence

The mise-en-scene in the credits suggest that the car that McMurphy is in implies what the meaning of the film is and how McMurphy is in the film and the car represent McMurphy just passes by. The car just comes from nowhere just coming out of the darkness and the lights are really affective to show the affect that McMurphy has on the men and how he changes their lives. Also the mountain represents the men and how they are all cold and struggling and how McMurphy changes that and helps the men to cope with their problems and shows them how to be and act.

Introduction to the main character's is different for both characters one is introduced in a positive and bright way and the other is introduced in a dark way and comes across as a dark and gloomy character. When we get introduced to McMurphy it is a bright scene what is really upbeat and is a positive way to introduce a character, we see McMurphy come out of a prison car which implies that he is a low risk and does not need a lot of backup. He is wearing leather jacket which suggest rebel he is also wearing a black hot which suggest that he might be a criminal. The next stage of this scene is where the police take his handcuffs off and McMurphy starts to get really excited and starts to shouting which shows that he is happy to be here because he has got out of going to prison. When we get introduced to Ratched it is a dark scene with a lot of shadows she arrives in a calm way that is really organised and comes in a dark cloak which represents thats she is a dark character that is a mean person. The gender is represented in different ways in this film Ratched is a powerful person who has all of the power over all of the men and this it different to real life at this time because in the 1950s men had the power over men and in this film it is the opposite and this is really good and is played really well.

The film Trainspotting portrays social and cultural contexts very well in a post Thatcherism era, in the way that the film deals with the effects of Thatcherism and the lack of work for young people in the working class.
